ABOUT:
Madicon is a convention run at James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, VA and in 2014 will celebrate its 23rd anniversary. Madicon is run by the membership of the Science Fiction Fantasy Guild (SFFG), a JMU student organization.
SFFG is very proud of Madicon as we approach the 23 year mark, and in the past we have hosted some really exciting guests, such as C.J. Cherryh, R.K. Post, Patricia C. Wrede, Jim Butcher, Margaret Weis and many others In the past, we have run LARPs with PST Productions and White Wolf. We have also had participation from Garrison Tyrannus of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion.
We are primarily a gaming convention, running tournaments of all kinds, but we also draw a lot of costumers, students and general fandom from the Science Fiction and Fantasy crowd. And of course, we have all the normal things you’d expect at such a convention: art, vendors, auctions, panels, workshops, etc. We support a charity in our area as well, the Wildlife Center of Virginia, and they put on a great show with their birds of prey every year.
100% of the proceeds from the Geek Auction and our Charity Auction all go to the Wildlife Center.
